Signs; What a Helpful Contribution to Society

I'm sure everyone's been subject to round robin emails and hours of procrastination involving pointless signs like these and I'm sure other blogs are equally plastered with such examples, but today I found a couple of my own strange signs and I thought I'd indulge you.

I spent the day on the Seven Sisters cliffs in some pretty idyllic weather (beats revising any day) where I found possibly the vaguest signpost ever and a confusing one warning of the dangers of a certain bumbling mammal.

First of all we encountered this treat:

Now, it isn't merely the issuing of this sign that seems odd to me, but if you look at the centre of the sign there are hinges, suggesting that this sign isn't always necessary. So the occasional presence of badgers is being highlighted - I presume the sign is adapted for when the badgers are away on their holidays. This raises another issue; it is someone's job - presumably employed by the tax payer - to operate this sign. There is a person out there whose responsibility it is to flick this sign from obscurity into the large exclamation mark outlining the possible pitfalls of an oncoming and unsuspecting driver.

Thank goodness that this man exists, without him society surely would crumble at our feet and we'd be left with a shambolic splodge of civilisation around us.

After seeing this wonder of local council's decision making, we found this sign:

The paths seem to run off in a kind-of-over-there and possibly-that-way fashion. Although I respect this breed of sign more; for the honest ramblers, lost atop a cliff on the Sussex Downs it seems that a map in this situation might be a little more useful...

Before the day was out, I had a brief altercation with a rabbit that I managed to catch with this scintillating action shot.

Well that's enough of that nonsense. I've got exams coming up soon so expect an unusually high number of blogs as I'll be searching around for things to do other than work.
